Boccia

Boccia is a target sport played by individuals, pairs or teams.

It requires a high degree of muscle control, accuracy, concentration and tactical awareness.

The goal is to land six of your balls closer to the white target ball than the opponents' balls.

Boccia is one of the fastest growing International and Paralympic Sports. Over 50 countries have local and / or national competitive programs.

Classification

CPISRA athletes compete within classification ranges.

The classification system ensures an even playing ground for athletes to compete against others with similar abilities.

Players with cerebral palsy who are classified as CP1 and CP2 will participate in BC1, BC2 and BC3 divisions for Boccia.

Those with non-cerebral palsy conditions will compete in the BC3 and BC4 divisions.

Competitive Opportunities

In any sport, not all participants wish to involve themselves in a competitive situation.

Boccia can be enjoyed at a recreational level.

For those who do enjoy the competitive scene, the opportunity to compete at local, regional, national, and international levels is also available.

Competitions programs are organized within a Paralympic cycle consisting of:

Year 1: Regional Championships

Year 2: World Championships

Year 3: World Cup

Year 4: Paralympic Games

All sanctioned events contribute to an athletes' standing in the International Ranking System.
